I just miss the MWK pod. It was introspective and analytical on broader topics that (mostly) women face as we're going through life and learning.

I agree! I miss MWK as well as it's how I came to be here. I started my deep dive into personal finance with Tori Dunlap and Katie in 2024. I would still devour MWK even though I feel like I've surpassed Dunlap's more entry level (but very needed) content. MWK was always a deeper dive into cultural and systemic financial topics, specific but not limited to woman. I feel the void. So for now, I just consume Katie's brain in whatever way she'll let me!

Optimist Economy has helped fill the MWK void for me. Keds was on MWK and that's how I ended up finding her podcast after months of re-listening to MWK hoping it would spring back to life. 😅

Same! MWK is how I discovered you. I was sad when you closed it out and I do feel that your voice is missing in this space

I also miss hearing your voice in my ear. Sometimes I listen to the robot reader in substack but find her lacking compare to MWK 💚

I too miss MWK. I was a listener/follower since before the morning brew. I appreciated Katie’s transparency as she’s evolved her thinking. Plus, she cracks me up.

On the which format question, I would have liked a "both" option. I enjoy both formats of your emails.

Coming here to say this :)

I'm an old white guy. I keep reading because I'm fascinated by a) your existential struggle with your success; and, b) your willingness to question your political views and explore those of others.

Thanks for being an old white guy who values varying opinions other than 100% of what yours might be. I love that we can all learn from each other. I'm an old(er) white woman, who thinks it's fascinating to hear the perspectives of the generation on my heals and engage with culture in a way that I might not otherwise right now.

Also an old guy. I specifically signed up for this newsletter to try to keep a thumb on the pulse of the next generation. Gives me hope for the future.

Every time I open your emails, I hope it's an announcement that the MWK pod is returning. 🥺 I do relate to the burnout though so I respect your decision!

Here to state for the record that I also miss MWK pod!

Just raising my hand for the "middle aged women who came here for Tressie and stuck around" crowd. I had to pick "morning brew era" but it wasn't morning brew that introduced me.

Chloe Rote's avatar

Yes to this! I think it was Tressie—>Diabolical—>morning brew exit interest pipeline for me? Tbh, Katie, I think I tried the early MWK things and it was too conservative for me but Tressie got me to circle back.

Me too! Avid Tressie fan-girl here, and your MWK interview was surprisingly (sorry!) astute and wonderful.

Let's do more polls! That was fun (genuine).

Humble request. Could you read your newsletter too? I've tried the substack listen feature and it's creepy. MWK was my walking/driving/shopping/folding laundry companion for so long that your voice now narrates, a possibility unsettling amount of, my internal dialogue. 😅 In any case, I had to ask and hope I am not alone in that wanting.

Agree! We all realize that a pod in addition to DL and the newsletter is a huge undertaking. Maybe a good compromise would be a recording of the newsletter!

Would love this too! I genuinely would appreciate this so much after years of listening to MWK!

I enjoy your writing at whatever cadence it arrives, and I appreciate that on Substack I can listen to the longer pieces because I drive a lot, and I like listening to interesting things on the road. Like others I do miss the MWK content!

I love both formats! TBH I try to read every week, but it’s hard to keep up (not just with yours, but with all writing I like), so I would be fineeee with bi-weekly.

Sarah's avatar

Every week I look forward to your email so I checked that one. If it were monthly or bi-monthly, I would still look forward to it!

Grace's avatar

I stay because I love your takes, they are the freshest! And you were one of the few specific writers I wanted to keep following after deleting all of my social media. I chose the weekly option for cadence, but honestly, my preference is trusting your judgement on when you think a piece is ready to share! If that means longer than weekly, I’m still sticking around!

Lauren Hooper's avatar

In a perfect world, Money with Katie would be a long-form essay with a little link round up at the end, available to read or listen to (in your voice) delivered biweekly or monthly...whatever cadence is needed to allow book #2 to arrive in a timely manner and for some solo episodes of Diabolical Lies while Caro is on mat leave.

Kate Waller's avatar

I actually equally like essays and link roundups so I picked "no seriously who are you" because there wasn't an option for both :)

Here for both the list of what to read, watch, listen to AND your writing. It’s perf, never change.

The MWK pod was amazing, but I even really liked it when you had a no frills recording of your essay. I hope adding something like that wouldn't be too overwhelming and I think it would increase audience reception!
