Look up a Needle threader! I had no idea what that little contraption was in sewing kits until like a month ago when I also picked back up some fiber crafts. They’re amazing and have saved my sanity while doing embroidery.
Embroidery: separate your floss! It looks like you used all six strands; you should probably been using two. It will go through the fabric easier and be less frustrating.
I love Lolli & Grace kits (not affiliated!) - very detailed directions and loads of videos about each step.
Also the easiest way to separate your floss into strands is to cut the length you want (usually outstretched arm to center of body is a good amount), then you fuss with the end until you can grab one strand of the six and pull up vertically. The one strand should just slide out, and the rest relax. Repeat if needed.
This works better than pulling apart more horizontally. If you do that, the thread gets all squirrelly.
If you want to feel accomplished, try using one strand each of two colors to blend or create new colors. Feels magical!

Also agree with another comment that your fabric is too loose in the hoop. May need to find better hoops if you can't get that one tight enough. Wooden ones with a screw you can use a screwdriver to tighten or the plastic ones work best. It should be so tight you can use it as a drum
the anil dash interview was really interesting (especially as a tech worker myself).. do you think vc and the tech industry are hand in hand with trump? the commentary about the right fighting to be able to say forbidden words or ideas in public - it’s always felt low stakes to me but i’m wondering if i missed the point about it being an expression of power and control..?
totally agree and good question. it's possible the masters of the universe types who gravitate to that world are incentivized by that. peter thiel in general is an enigma and a very dangerous man, imo. but broadly speaking i found 2 of his insights to be really notable: 1) that tech used to espouse progressive/utopian views and that that world is so clearly over now — makes me wonder if we were always destined to get here based on the underlying principles of technocratic thinking. and 2) the idea that VC is an anti-competitive industry and has effectively derisked itself. reading about wework and uber and how wealthy early investors got made me realize it's a very easily gamed system

Re: capitalism in schools... I think it should be taught, but with a conscious lens. Check out stakeholder theory and conscious capitalism - we're teaching it at www.novellacenter.org You can do well and do good. In fact, companies that are built on stakeholder theory significantly outperform the market, and even out perform Good to Great companies... there's something there for sure!
The insurance vs. climate change point is something that really needs to be talked about more. I remember seeing an interview 1-2 years ago where a woman explained how her very Republican/MAGA father finally decided that climate change is real because why else would insurance companies invest in positions or entire departments dedicated to studying the impacts of climate change on their bottom line?
I haven't listened to the full diabolical lies episode but I tend to jump to defend Scott Galloway. I think there was a huge cultural shift primarily in the United States. We spent a generation teaching women that they could do it all, be anything, have a career, have a family. We spent a generation essentially raising the expectations for women and combatting gender bias against women! Yay love that I knew it was possible to do what I want to do, that I'm strong, capable and don't need a man, can have my own job, own money and own desires.
In that entire time no one changed the way they were raising boys. Now we have the manosphere and men demanding returns to the traditional times because why? Women don't need them. I do think that Scott touches on something that men need to be needed and have purpose. Think of the scripts that men are raised with - you are a provider, a protector, a man of the house. Well, women don't need that anymore so what's there for men?
To some extent the Girl Power campaigns completely forgot that if we change the beliefs, values, needs and expectations of one gender then the other one should probably be looped in. To Scott's point when men feel useless they tend to kill themselves or others or take out violence against women. So therefore a generation of men feeling left behind (no matter how much I think they're just being crybabies and women succeeding isn't a problem, it feels like a problem to their teeny tiny egos and men have a way of making their feelings EVERYONES PROBLEM (see all of human history)).
If Scott Galloway wants to stop the radicalization of boys into right wing menaces that are trying to take my right to vote good for him! In my opinion, he's not asking grown women to accept shitty ass men. He's noting that there are way more shitty ass men than not and saying hey society let's look at the way we are raising boys so we create less shitty men and more great men that contribute in the house, have jobs, care about others, contribute to society in ways other than work.
I agree that we didn't change the way boys are raised and that that's the issue — I tend to like Scott generally in this economics sphere so I hear you; I'd be interested to hear your thoughts after listening to the episode because I think the broader takeaway is that Scott's prescription in the book (she read it for the episode) is that, in order to be happy and valued men, men need to 1. protect, 2. provide, and 3. procreate — so, basically, more of the same patriarchal messaging they've always received

Wow, "squirrelly" is exactly how I'd describe what happened to my thread. I have a graveyard of rainbow-colored thread clumps now
